İzmit Waste and Residue Treatment, Incineration, and Recovery Inc. was established by İzmit Metropolitan Municipality in 1996 as part of the İzmit Integrated Environmental Project and started accepting waste in 1997. It is 100% owned by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality.
