WITH PAGEV’S CONTRIBUTIONS, VISOR PRODUCTION ALSO BEGINS IN VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOLS
All Vocational Plastic Schools Join the Fight Against Coronavirus
The collaboration between the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education and the Turkish Plastics Industry Research, Development and Education Foundation (PAGEV) in combating coronavirus continues to grow. At the PAGEV Küçükçekmece Plastic Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, production of disposable plastic forks has begun. In addition, Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education and PAGEV took an important step toward producing visors, one of the most critical needs of healthcare workers. Beyond the hygienic disposable plastics produced at their own schools, visors will also be manufactured at other vocational schools providing education in plastic production technologies, supported by molds supplied by PAGEV members.
Vocational High Schools Act as a Shield in Turkey’s Fight Against Coronavirus
Within the framework of the Ministry of National Education’s 2023 vision, vocational high schools are playing a pivotal role in Turkey’s fight against coronavirus. In the context of institutional cooperation in vocational education with PAGEV, these efforts are meeting the surging demand for single-use, personalized products. As a pioneer with vocational schools, PAGEV is fully opening the doors of its schools to produce the products needed by the country during the coronavirus response. At PAGEV Küçükçekmece Plastic Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, 1 million disposable forks will be produced monthly to be distributed to hospitals, quarantine centers, and other locations in need throughout the pandemic. Other product types will be added depending on demand.
Institutional Cooperation with Vocational High Schools
Another significant step in the collaboration between the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education and PAGEV was taken in the production of plastic face shields, which are crucial for protecting healthcare workers from the virus. With PAGEV’s support, 300,000 face shields will be produced monthly at plastic vocational high schools nationwide.
With the participation of Istanbul Provincial Director of National Education Levent Yazıcı, the volunteer teachers of PAGEV Küçükçekmece Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School began producing disposable plastic products on Monday, April 13, 2020. PAGEV Corporate Communications Manager Cesur Çaça and Acting Principal of PAGEV Küçükçekmece Plastic Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School Ömer Hançer also hosted this important day.
Commenting on the critical role of vocational high schools in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, Istanbul Provincial Director of National Education Levent Yazıcı said:
“This challenging period in combating coronavirus has highlighted the importance of vocational high schools. As the Provincial Directorate of National Education, we are producing essential items such as cleaning supplies, disposable masks, gowns, coveralls, forks, spoons, knives, and cups at our vocational high schools. We highly value our cooperation with PAGEV in this regard, and PAGEV Vocational and Technical Anatolian High Schools serve as one of the pilot centers. We are producing face shields at 16 Science and Art Centers. In addition to disposable plastic products, PAGEV Vocational and Technical Anatolian High Schools are now also producing face shields, which are among the most critical needs of our healthcare workers. As the Provincial Directorate of National Education, our institutional collaboration focused on vocational high schools will continue to expand during and after the coronavirus fight.”
