How did you get into the plastic industry? How was SEM plastic formed?

I graduated from Istanbul Technical University.  Then I got a master's degree in biomedical from Boğaziçi University. When my father Namık Kemal Eroğlu came to Istanbul from Anatolia, he started working in Silkar group. It operates in the production of agricultural machinery. He studies at the university. He has a hardworking and reliable structure. It starts to rise in order and goes up to the trade department. Then he wants to start his own company and decides. He is opening a workshop in Bayrampaşa. We've got an injection machine, we're producing parts. At that time, my ideal was to develop our company more about sales and marketing. I'm in junior high school, and Mc Donald just came to Turkey at that time. Is very famous. In Taksim, there's a tail at the door. When I got there, I saw ice cream pots and glasses were plastic. We took an appointment and talked, we said that we could make this product in Turkey and said ‘OK’. We started working. At that moment, we saw a similar product in thy. At that time thy was buying it in the Netherlands. We went there or went there and signed a deal. Then the gallery opened, there are many restaurants. I have a bag ‘do you want to have such a product, I ask. We started to introduce our use-at products to everyone.

How did Growth take place? How did exports begin?

With the growth we have developed our production lines. We make quality production. We grew up with the growth of the market. We have been the first manufacturer in Turkey to use such kinds of horse products such as plates, cutlery, cups etc. After Bayrampaşa, we moved to the East industrial site. We started out with 1 store, 3 we reached the shop. We bought a machine from Germany and we brought it. It can produce 80 thousand units at a time, and imagine that we produce three thousand of them very difficult. We realized that we should export now. We made our first export to Israel. We are the first company to export these products in Turkey. We are the market leader in Israel. We also made factories for Palestine. The company's name there is elite plastic.  We are exporting to 156 countries.

Where's the production?

We have a factory in Malatya and Istanbul Silivri in Turkey. The number of employees in these factories is steadily decreasing. Because automation is evolving. We have about 150 employees. Silivri is our main location. We produce around 5 billion units per year. We are in Turkey's largest thousand companies. We are in the first bin in exports. We are the largest exporter in our sector.

Who are you working with?

We welcome all McDonald's and Burger Kings plastic products in Turkey. Mc Donalds has changed its supplier in all the products it has received from outside for 30 years. He's the only one who's still working with us.  We sell to companies such as Unilever, Ülker, sütaş. Also, all the products of thy are coming out of us again. In addition, the world's largest airline companies take their products from us. Apart from thy, Singapore Airlines, Emirates Airlines, Qatar Airlines. 7 of the top 10 companies in the aviation industry are working with us.

We have developed new products. We developed plates that didn't burn on the plane. You know, when you throw it in the oven, it doesn't burn and it doesn't scratch at the same time. It prevents it from being scratched and burned. We have received a sustainability award from this product. You can't grow unless you can. We need to make a difference. We attach importance to technological developments. Environmental technologies are important to us. We reduce the stiffness of the plastic, which produces less energy.

Investment brought great sound in the world, I guess?

The Americans have heard about our investment in Palestine. Sheikh Maktum and Obama attended the summit of ‘world entrepreneurship’ gave me the award. Obama had a project in the Middle East called ‘industry for peace’. Within the scope of this project, our Palestinian investment has gained importance. We received the award at the organization of Maktum and Obama in Dubai. At the time, we met with US Secretary of State John Kerry. We talked about it and discussed it. Our Palestinian investment has brought voice to the world.

What is the idea of investing in Palestine?

We invested abroad in Palestine. Israel was our choice for Palestine because it was our biggest market.  We made a joint investment with a local investor. We took our old machines in Turkey. We've invested $ 4 million. The factory, established in an indoor area of 200 square meters in the West Bank region of Palestine, is the first turkish in Palestine and the fourth industrial investment in the world.
